Nobody can of missed all of the recent press and TV coverage about the state of battery or intensively farmed Chickens and their Eggs.
Whether your happy eating poorly treated animals or not isn't in this review as the debate could go on forever.
So I decided to take a taste test for myself to see if all the news was just hype or was the food actually worth the extra couple of quid?
Everyone in my household loves the Great British Chicken and all it stands for, we have been eating standard cheap Chicken for years without a 2nd thought.
So after the shocking TV prog with Hugh the River Cottage fella we bought Corn fed Free Range whole Chicken From Sainsbury's, which cost around 3 more than our usual buy, I did mumble under my breath about the cost, however after cooking and carving I can honestly let you know that the flavour, texture and enjoyment(for want of a better word)is worth more than the extra 3.
Over the coming weeks we have also been converted to Free Range Eggs too, the yolks are a proper deep and rich yellow and the flavour is (this is gonna sound silly) well Eggy and they are so easy to peel too..we have had the odd pack of 6 caged Eggs since and they seem to taste fishy for some reason... From now on it's FREE RANGE all the way.
So if your not sure ifit's worth paying that tiny bit EGGstra forFREE RANGE Chickens and Eggs - Please just give it a try and I'm sure like us you'll be hooked on the difference too.
If you'd like to know more just google chickenout.tv as EBay don't like web addresses posted in reviews : O )
